COLLAGE ON VIEW Keiichi Tanaami at Galerie Gebr. LehmannThrough 31 July 2014 in Berlin. Women, erotic scenes, superheroes, robots and comic book characters inhabit the glaring, opulent universe of Keiichi Tanaami‘s collages. Their imagery is intense, rich in colours and motifs, and visually overwhelming. The works presented in this exhibition come from the late 1960s and the early 1970s. They were created shortly after Keiichi Tanaami‘s stay in the USA and reflect his fascination with the aesthetics of Pop Art and Flower Power. The film industry, music culture, as well as growing consumption and the discovery of sexual freedom influenced the young artist at that time. READ MORE |

COLLAGE ON VIEW Ashkan Honarvar at CES ContemporaryThrough 21 June 2014 in Los Angeles, California. “The body, torn by acts of war, exploited by the sex industry or used as a tool for seeking identity, is the focal point of Ashkan Honarvar’s work." writes Titus Verheijen. "This constitutes a search for a universal representation of the evil latent in every human, providing an opportunity for reflection. Honarvar’s aesthetic dissection has an intriguing macabre nature, which opens the images to interpretation.” READ MORE |
