FROM KOLAJ 28 The Thing About ChaosThe thing about chaos is that it comes in different forms. War, for all its brutality and destruction, is a highly choreographed chaos. A house full of kids may be an exhausting mess, but when run well has a rhythmic, scheduled flow. Cacophonies can be harsh or harmonious. As Carl Jung said, “In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.” Consider the nature of chaos when viewing the collage of Rosemary Rae. A portfolio of her work appears in Kolaj #28. MORE |

FROM KOLAJ 28 Forms Float in Ethereal SuspensionJohn Digby is a brilliant collage artist who works with prescient amalgamations of words and images. Born in Britain in 1938, he was shaped by a childhood in the Blitz and adolescence as a London Zoo keeper of birds. A Surrealist poet at heart, Digby, scalpel in one hand pen in the other, takes his audience for a rollicking and often disturbing romp in the theatre of his imagination. In Kolaj #28, Joan Harrison with Emily Walshe profile this fascinating artist. MORE |

COLLAGE ON VIEW Connecting To TokyoOdile Lueken at HASIGO in Taito City, Tokyo, Japan through 26 April 2020. In a Japanese temple book, Lueken created a travel journal with tiny collages made out of all sorts of magazines and leaflets she came across during her long days in Tokyo. Since she does not speak or understand Japanese, all was abstract material for her. The collages became new small stories, often with a sense of humour in mind. MORE |
