COLLAGE COMMUNITIES Mystic Krewe of Scissors & Glue, New Orleans, LouisianaThe Mystic Krewe of Scissors & Glue provides a community for collage artists in New Orleans to connect with each other, from people who have never collaged in their life until they attend a monthly meet-up to artists who have been working with collage for years, to activate spaces around the city with collage, to collaborate on projects, and to give back to the city of New Orleans. The Krewe was forced to cancel their monthly meet-ups and put a few other projects on hold because of COVID-19. The Krewe's members have been keeping in touch and supporting each other online. Some members have offered free herbalist and energy work, while others have left collage collaborations on members' doorsteps. MORE |

COLLAGE BOOKS COLLAGE 1990-2020By Fabián Giles (self-published, 2020). Influenced by the legacy of Picasso, Braque, Hamilton and Rauschenberg, the artist began to experiment with collage, using papers, glue and various materials in a search for styles that range from random and ordered chaos to minimalism, using basic elements such as barcodes, coins and postage stamps, sensual female figures and the star as a principal motif. COLLAGE BOOKS Sensual MediaBy Fabian Giles (self-published, 2016). Cut-out ingredients as misplaced images and words; add leftover recycled visual language, a dash of truth, and a pinch of fantasy; stir up and build up, add something unexpected. Images hit their mark, no matter what happens. MORE |

WORLD COLLAGE DAY Uncanny Scenes, Ludic Characters, & Nature“As a teenager, I had the habit of collecting different images and materials, especially different papers. I love paper! I never really did anything, I just catalogued them. I was always a bit afraid to use them and ruin the material,” writes Ana Paula Barros of Munich, Germany. “One day, I decided to give it a try and, since 2017, I have dedicated myself to analog collage and have since then developed my own style and techniques. It’s now part of my routine. I’m always trying to find new images, cutting or ripping paper.” Her Cut Out Page appears in the World Collage Day 2020 Special Edition from Kolaj Magazine. MORE |
WORLD COLLAGE DAY Endless Interpretations & Challenging Narratives“I look for or seek out collage everywhere; often I find myself ‘cutting’ in my mind something I see in the street and imagining it mixed with other images,” writes Tom Amoretti. “By nature and nurture a hoarder, I mainly use old and new magazines and books, also sometimes found objects. My collages are all analog/hand made; never computer, photocopies or scans as I like the limitation provided by just working with found materials.” The London-based artist's Cut Out Page appears in the World Collage Day 2020 Special Edition from Kolaj Magazine.
